Hi! My name is Kelly. I am a mom, architect, and navy spouse living on Oahu. With 20 years of residential architecture experience and collaboration on more than 140 private residences, I know houses. That extends to more than just creating a pretty place. Design has the ability to improve how we interact on a daily basis with those we care about most - our ohana. For my family, being part of the military community means moving all over the world. I lived in Hawaii, had my son in California, my daughter in Spain, and recently returned to the US from Singapore. The wanderlust is strong, and it instilled within me a unique perspective. Home means something different for everyone, but at the center of it is heart. Now that my feet are firmly planted here on Oahu, I’m looking to help others make their house a home.

Architectural services & process
Whether you plan to build from the ground up or just need help with space planning and product selection, I’ve got you! We always start with an initial 30 min discovery call to discuss the scope of your project and determine which services you are interested in. I like to have my clients create wishlists and we collect inspiration ideas to round out a concept for the design. From there I complete the required drawings and details are solidified. Product selections and furniture purchases are then made. In full service renovations I also work with the contractor untill installation or construction is complete. Last but not least, enjoy your new space!

3d design
Includes design conceptualization of an addition or large remodel. Provides a full set of construction documents for permit, to include plans, elevations and structural details. I am the liaison between client and contractor to make sure construction runs smoothly and is completed as intended.
No matter the scope of the project, it can sometimes be hard to visualize a space from plans alone. Using Sketch Up, we are able to create quick 3D models of the new room to fully explore the form and function of the design. We can also see how different materials look in a space such as a kitchen.
When working with an existing space or small interior improvements, a little goes a long way. Help create better flow with a new configuration of the space. Includes plan drawings and interior elevations as required. Detailed product selections and sourcing are also available upon request.
On Site consultation - $200
Don’t know where to start? For clients who just want to learn more about the architectural process or to see if an addition is possible, I offer a consultation only option. Here we can discuss your design options without commitment or contracts. If you decide to move forward with a project the $200 consultation can be used towards a flat rate design fee.
I fully believe design is something to be shared. It should be fun.

DOLLHOUSE design
While living overseas, I missed the tangible experience of drawing something on paper and seeing it come to life before my eyes. At the same time, I was trying to balance my professional and personal lives. I started The Design Stoke after noticing the need for modern dollhouses while searching for my daughter. I decided if I couldn’t buy exactly what I wanted I should make it myself. After all, I was already designing BIG houses, why not make little ones on the side? Since then The Design Stoke has become an independent design studio that offers dollhouses, 3D rendering, interior design and home renovation services.
